Tilda with Flower Jeans - Spring Equinox

Happy Saturday going on Sunday Everyone! I made a standard A2 size card today. I was "spring cleaning" and came across some old CTMH papers and stamps so I thought I'd use this. The base CS is CTMH Petal with CTMH Paper Garden DP. I first die-cut one of the designs with my Sizzix Bigz Clear Square Scallop die, then, using a rectangle of 4" x 3.5" of another DP from the pack, I used my MS border punch on both ends and folded it over just above the bottom border so two sides would show since it's double-sided. This gives a nice contrast using the same DP, like a layered look. I did a vellum overlay and stamped a sentiment from the CTMH Spring Equinox stamp set and attached it to the scallop square to soften the print a little. Here is "Tilda with Flower Jeans" sitting on a band of purple ribbon popped up on foam tape. I colored her with Copics and added some Star Dust Stickles to her wings. Next I added a green flourish using my Sizzix Flowers, Vine & Flourish set dies and popped my Prima flowers on top.

The inside has the same DP and you can see how vibrant the colors are vs. the front with the vellum overlay. On the "message" area, I cut a piece of DP 4" x 7" and used my MS border punch again on both ends this time, and folded over each end to create a semi framed writing area. I used Hero Arts half pearls on both of the Prima flowers. That's it! Thank you for stopping by and hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Tomorrow is the last day of May and can't believe it will soon be mid-year! Time is flying by too fast for me, and yet when I'm crafting, there's just not enough hours in the day. Can't figure that out yet LOL! So, enjoy your last day of May tomorrow and I hope see you again in June!

Gorjuss Girls - Tri Shutter Card

This week's Technique Lover's Challenge over at SCS is a Tri Shutter Card. You can find excellent pictorial instructions by Bonnie Szwalkiewicz here. It originally looked complicated but after you make one, it's fun and easy, but not fast (for me!) because I had to think of what to put in each "section" of the blocks, so of course, I took the easy way out and put flowers all over the card! I can never do challenges with a time limit because I'll never finish on time so I work at my leisure and try to tackle them when I get a chance. I used three Gorjuss Girls images for this card. The first pic shows the entire card, and the second looking from the right side to the middle. I'm sure once you make one, you'll make another because it's so dimensional and looks like it took hours! Thank you for stopping by today, and enjoy your weekend. We have "voggy" weather again, and it should last thru most of next week (aarghh!).

I Love You This Much, Tilda!

Happy Thursday Everyone! This is a very simple card because I did not do much on the card front, mainly because I wanted to preserve the beautiful colors on this DP. The card base is 5.5" square and I decided to use a black mat so Tilda's wings would pop out while still carrying the color theme of the DP. I cut Tilda out and also her antennae and used a flower stamen colored with Copic in place, then popped her on foam tape. With her arms wide open, I thought the sentiment "I Love You This Much!" was befitting. It is computer generated and I punched it out with my SU Word window punch. I used a new EK Success mini double scallop border punch that I love because I have no problems punching cardstock vs. most of my MS punches that get jammed. A little lace trim and a delicate butterfly applique is all I used with a bit of turquoise organdy ribbon. On the inside, I tried to carry over the scallop border and colored the butterfly applique with Copic markers to give it some color so it's not too stark white. I used a SU! Top Note die for the message section and colored the border again with Copic to give it some definition apart from the DP. That's it! Very little stamping and coloring (just my speed LOL!). Thank you for stopping by today and now it's my turn to do some blog hopping to see all your wonderful creations!
Recipe:
Stamp: Butterfly Tilda/Chasing Butterflies Collection/Magnolia
CS: CTMH black
DP: NRN Designs/Reflection Scroll
Ink: Copic markers (E50, R00, E00, E15, E35, V06, B02, BV02, BV01, B000)
Others: EK Success border punch, flower stamen for antennae, sentiment was computer generated

Spring Has Sprung with Tilda!

Happy Tuesday going on Wednesday Everyone! I know I've been absent about a week, working behind the scenes to gear up for Nicole's Inky Impressions Rubber Stamps debut. I found some time to make a Tilda card, but the weather today is awful with no tradewinds, vog, humidity, ugh! Anyway, my pic didn't come out too clear but it was overcast so this was the best I could do...not that it matters or makes my card any prettier LOL! Anyways, the card base is a 5.5" square using SU! Blush Blossom. The DP is from the Making Memories "Flower Patch" pad (full of pretty designs). Tilda with Hat is from (I believe) the Love Collection and you can find her at Diana's Magnolia-licious store. The chair Tilda is sitting on is from "Stampies" that I purchased from our LSS, Cute Stuff. Okay, my flower soft looks awful...they kept falling off every time I turned it over to work on the inside (duh! should have worked on the inside first!) ...I need alot more practice. The sentiment is also from MM Flower Patch. I used PTI twill ribbon in Berry Sorbet and cut out all the little butterflies from one of the DPs in the pack. Well, tomorrow is hump day so the week will seem shorter huh? Thank you so much for stopping by again and I should have another card tomorrow. I really appreciate your taking the time to stop by here for a spell. Have a wonderful week and enjoy yourself.

Hey Gorjuss! Must. Change. Attitude. LOL!

Happy Monday going on Tuesday Everyone! I just had to share this with you. It's not a great card, but last week I popped in to "Paperie" a little shop in Kahala Mall and came across this note pad by Mary Engelbreit and I couldn't resist getting this! You see, this reminds me of my grand-niece who can be so "old-lady-like" in comments that she makes, such as, if she's coloring (which she does well), and I'm sitting there watching her, all of a sudden, in a deep voice, she'll say, "Don't stare at me!" and gosh, for a 5 year old girl, she sure says things little girls her age don't say! Okay, I had to let my sister know I found this note pad and just got my Gorjuss Girls 2 stamp set so I made a card with my grand-niece in mind, so I do have my sister's permission to post this. I tell ya, kids can say the darnest things!!! So, beside the card I made, I'm showing you the actual note paper from this pad. I'm giving my sister the rest of the notepad for her use! Thanks so much for stopping by, hope you have a good chuckle, and have a wonderful week!

Spread Your Wings and Fly Tilda!

Happy Friday Everyone! I've been debating about posting this card, but I made it as a graduation card using the colors of black and red for a local private school. This is Dragonfly Tilda from the new Chasing Butterflies collection and you can purchase this stamp from Diana's Magnolia-licious store. I used two MS border punches and wove the 3/8" ribbon through and tied with a bow. Card is 5.5" square using red CS from Bazzill, and the DP is from Imaginisce-Black Tie Optional double sided. I computer generated the sentiment and punched it out with my Marvy heart punch. I'm not happy with the spacing so I'll change it later. Tilda is colored with both Copics and Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS. I added a stamen for her antennae. The tag that Tilda is mounted on is a Sizzix "Happy 2" Tag die. On the inside I again used a MS border punch and a Sizzix "Frame with Heart" die. Thanks for stopping by today...it's very warm and humid and makes you want to turn on the a/c and take a nap LOL! Have a fun-filled weekend y'all. I have to work at the Baby Expo over the weekend so I won't have much play time. See you next week!

April Showers Bring May Flowers for Tilda

Happy Wednesday Everyone! I know alot of you are still having rainy days which hopefully be over soon. Well, with the showers come flowers. Tilda has harnessed a basketful of flowers. She's from the new Chasing Butterflies collection that you can purchase from Diana over at Magnolia Stamps. I decided to take out my SU! kraft CS and used this pink gingham check DP from MAMBI, used MS border punch, and dusted off my Cuttlebug embossing folder that I thought would go well with the DP. The two tags were cut from Sizzix Happy Tags #2. The vog (volcanic fog) is gone and we have beautiful tradewinds in Hawaii so we're out golfing. Thank you for stopping by, and for leaving your wonderful comments. It's over the hump day and soon the weekend will be upon us for more crafting time! Enjoy your day(s) doing what you love best.

Fast, Fun, Easy Goodie/Gift Bag

Front of Bag Side view
Happy Tuesday Everyone! Here's something I made yesterday and it was so fun, fast, and easy. I got the instructions from Cheryl of Life is Sweet. She has alot of tutorials on her blog and you can find the instructions in her April 30, 2009 posting. In a nutshell, I used the Sizzix "Daisy Doily" die and added some half pearls and a ribbon to close it. You can stick your goodie bag down on the inside bottom with a piece of sticky tape. So fast and fun to do, and it dresses up even a tiny bag of something! Thank you for stopping by today and go check out Cheryl's site for many more projects.

Tilda Is Having a PJ Kind of Day!

Happy Monday Everyone! Hope you all had lots to eat celebrating Mother's Day. Well, as today rolls around, I'm feeling lazy so I passed the mood on to Tilda. She's having a PJ day and is loving it! Don't you just love this Dreamy Tilda? She has that pondering, lazy, thinking kind of look. I colored her with Copics (RV02 and R81, R83, E15, E18), stamped the sofa from Alota Rubber Stamps on Colorbok Deena's Closet DP, tranquility sentiment from H&M Stamps (Old English), the other is Magnolia with my handwritten sentiment. Use flower soft for the flowers, MS doily punch for the "curtain" and that's about it. We all need to treat ourself to a PJ day once in a while, so enjoy it when you can! Thank you for stopping by, and have a wonderful week!

Daily Inspiration

Happy Aloha Friday Gals! Are we all ready for the weekend of fun creating and celebrating Mother's Day? My sister and I took my Mom to brunch today since she doesn't like "crowds" now that she's getting on in age. A time to reflect on who we are, how we were raised, how we treat or treasure people, and who have come into our lives and touched us in a positive way. Well, my life now evolves around crafting, and I have met many wonderful, talented people. Firstly, the one who encouraged me to start blogging, is Joy Nekonishi Uyehara and she has bestowed upon me this Inspiration Award (thank you ((again)), Joy!). The rules she gave us are: 1) link back to the person who gave it to you; 2) put the picture/award on your blog; 3) you can nominate anyone and as many as you choose; 4) leave a fact that no one knows about you; 5) leave a comment on the blog that gave you this award.

Fact: The name I use on my blog, is the name I used on my GET license hundreds of years ago when I was in a group of 5 gals making children's items and selling to some local stores!

Okay, now I nominate: Norma, Justine, Candy, Christine, Tricia. To Everyone out there, have a wonderful weekend and thank you for stopping by!

Another Award from Linda!

Oh my, these island gals surely are filled with the Aloha spirit! Isn't that nice? I just received the Love Award from Linda (thank you Linda!) and I just sent it to her last night so we kinda "crossed over" and I had to chuckle to myself. That being said, I send this award to ALL of you who visit my blog and leave me such lovely and encouraging comments. Crafters that share make the world go round with so much fun and making new friends! Happy day to ALL of you and thank you for sharing your talent!

I Am Truly Blessed - Another Award

(Note: Edited to correct the blogsite for J's Knicknacks!)
It must be full moon time because I feel so blessed by all my blogging friends. Kyoko (thank you, Kyoko!!!) passed this Love Award on to me, and I am so touched by her genuine concern. She PM'd me to see if everything was okay with me because I hadn't posted for a while...just like her...big warm heart. I am to pass this on to five others, and it's a very hard decision, and is so deserving of ALL of you who take the time to visit and cheer me on. I would, however, like to mention a few of you that I know will continue to spread the love, and they are: Joy, who encouraged me to start blogging from my PCP days (thank you Joy!) and is known as the queen of shaker cards, Cheryl, who designs for her husband's store (J's Knicknacks) and has great tutorials, Linda, who boosts my spirit and has so many wonderful projects, Joy, my first "swap buddy" and Dew Drops provider, and Chris, our fearless leader for Nicole's Inky Impressions design team. To all my friends in blogland, I wish you love and happiness for being who you are! Have a wonderful week Everyone!

Magnolia-licious May Sketch Challenge Card#2

I'm back again this Sunday evening with card #2 I made for the Magnolia-licious May sketch challenge. (See my first posted earlier, below.) But I'm not sure which one I will submit. This time, I used the sunflower Tilda...thought I'd "lighten up" a bit from the last "darker" card I made. I used foam tape to pop up my image and the sentiment.

Here's the recipe:

Stamps: Magnolia, Making Memories-Flower Patch (sentiment), Alota Rubber Stamps (background)
Paper: SU! pink pirouette CS, Basic Grey Two Scoops DP
Copics: Body: E50, R00, E00; Dress: R81, R83, B41, G40; Flower: Y11, Y15, Y18, YG23
Hair: E34, YR24
Others: Lace trim, ribbon, from stash, small flowers from Flora-Dec.
I aslo wanted to share a small tidbit with you that has made me very happy and honored. About a month ago, Diana emailed me and asked if she could post a few of my cards in the Magnolia store gallery. Of course, I was elated and said "Yes!" So, if you happen to shop at her store, you'll find four of my cards in the "Chasing Butterflies" gallery, and two in the "Easter" gallery. I am truly blessed, and have you all to thank for in constantly giving me a "booster" shot with your comments and support. I will always treasure the friendships I have made and thank you for sharing with me your talents so I can continue to grow. I wish you all a fabulous week ahead and thank you again, for stopping by.

Magnolia-licious May Sketch Challenge - Warning - Long Post

Well, happy Sunday Everyone out there in blog land. I know, it's been a long time since my last post (project) but I've been busy and didn't have a chance to play. Okay, enuff ramblings. I decided to do my first Magnolia-licious sketch challenge, and then ended up making two cards, one with a rectangle focal point, and the other a square. Just like me, undecisive! LOL! For this card, I used Tilda from the Chasing Butterflies collection holding a basket of flowers. It's pretty straight-forward but the recipe is below, other than the Tilda stamp since I used only one hehehe.

Paper: CTMH pansy purple CS, Bazzill bling Tiara, Basic Grey Wisteria pad
Copics: Hair: E34, YR24 (same for basket); Flowers: R89, C3, YG23
Other: Sizzix "Frame" original die (doesn't have a descriptive name!), lace trim from stash, half pearls, EK Success flourish punch, a flattened "bead cap" to adorn the Prima flower.
I also added some tiny rhinestones to each of the flowers and on Tilda 's hair ribbon. I cut around the basket to have it outside of the frame while the rest of her is behind (inside) the frame. Well, that's all folks! (Card is 5.5" square.)
You can purchase your Magnolia stamps from Diana over at Magnolia-licious. Diana is very generous and offers free shipping to the US and Canada, to all Magnolia-licious members. In addition, for the month of May, you can get 50% off against the least expensive stamp with a minimum $25 purchase! How can you beat this?! All you have to do is put in the words "WORMS" and "Magnolia-licious member" in the Comment section to receive these perks. So simple! She also includes some extra treats with your order! You can't beat this! Want to play in the May Sketch Challenge? You must use a Magnolia stamp, then email your card to Diana at ladydian@shaw.ca and she will upload it to the sketch challenge gallery.
Phew! I told you this would be long...but I'm not quite done yet. I have another card to upload shortly. Thank you all for visiting and leaving me such nice comments; I truly appreciate your taking the time.
