"Poise" by Leanne Ellis and a Double Challenge

Happy Wednesday (over the hump day) Everyone! Time is flying by fast and we're at mid-week already. After discovering "The Next Level" blogsite thru Jacque, I've been trying to keep up with their challenges as this is a very informative site with great tutorials and wonderful ideas so go check it out here. I also came across Anjou Krelovich's site. She is hosting this week's Creatively Cute Blogger Challenge, and I decided to combine the two challenges into one.

The Next Level's challenge is a sketch challenge featuring an arched pocket that holds a removable tag.

Anjou Krelovich hosted this week's Creatively Cute Blogger Challenge and it is to use PINK. Any kind of pink whether hot or soft, in a color combo or alone. I thought about this stamp I got from Sugar Nellie called "Poise" by Leanne Ellis.

My card base is 5.5" square and I used Bazzill's October CS which is a nice lightly frosted pink CS. I cut the arched piece from a Making Memories Lovebird scallop DP and the arch fit perfectly on the scallops both on the left and bottom. I adhered this arched piece to the card base on the left and bottom only to leave an opening for the pocket for the tag. I used my Sizzix Flowers & Vine #3 die to die-cut the black flourish and it fit perfectly on the arch so I was very happy, then I added some pink half pearls.

I stamped my Poise image with Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI CS and colored the image with Copics. It was very easy to color because of the simple line and lots of open space which made it fast to color. As you can see, I didn't use too many markers! LOL! I love this! I used R83 for her dress, 100 (black) for the stripes, and C7 and C9 for her hair. I liked the way her "almost" black hair came out and it's solid without any lines in her hair so it was very easy to color. Then I cut her out and angled her over the flourish. The tag is a Sizzix Super Scallop Tag die. I cut one in SU! Pink Pirouette and one in CTMH black to separate the pink from the tag and the pink card base. The sentiment is from SU! Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set and I think it's a cool saying!

For the inside of my card, I basically carried on the look from the front of the card and added another Sizzix flourish die cut but used flat flowers for the inside so it doesn't bulge too much, then I die-cut my round and round scallops from Sizzix dies, again matting the pink with the black. This is the note card to write a personal note and it slips into the arched pocket.

Well, sorry this was such a long post. Thank you for taking time to sit through this with me. It's a very fast, simple, pretty sketch but the "ingredients" make it sound like at big pot of stew! Have a wonderful day and soon the weekend will be here.

Friday Sketchers Week 57 with Tilda and Single Flower

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Hope you week got started on a good note. I'm playing catch up and today I have a card with Single Flower Tilda that I used to do the Friday Sketchers Week 57 sketch. My card base is 5.5" square and I started with Bazzill (yellow) CS. The DP is from Doodlebug-Berry Blue and Sprinkles. Because of the colorful DP, I decided to "shadow" my mats with black so it would separate the other DP from the base DP. I decided to paper piece Tilda's dress and she looks like she's wearing a muu muu (dress in Hawaiian). The sentiment is from SU! Best Yet stamp set that punched out with my Marvy yellow scallop punch, and the black mat is Marvy yellow circle punch. I decided to make a florette with a strip of lace and layer it with a SU 5-flower punch and a Prima flower. Before putting the flower together, I cut some necklace chain and attached a "Laugh" charm to dangle from the flower. This was another fun sketch to work with and I'm sure I'll make more cards using this. Thank you for stopping by today and for all the lovely comments you leave. I'll be back tomorrow with a very different kind of image that I got the other month. Have a great week and enjoy what you do.

Tilda and Friday Sketchers Week 55 Sketch

Happy Monday Everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed your Father's Day celebration. I finally got a chance to play with Tilda again. I know, the Friday Sketcher's Week 55 is like three weeks old, but I love the layout that Jacque came up with and told myself first chance I get I will make a card with it, so here it is. I don't know the name of this Tilda image so I'm sorry about that. For my card base of 5.5" square, I used SU! Sahara Sand, Baja Breeze for the matting, and the rest is the beautiful SU! Parisian Breeze DSP that is double-sided and on texturized paper that I just love! I strung a bead on each of three blue organdy ribbons and adhered the ends in the back, and added 3 teeny-tiny buttons to Tilda's coveralls and blouse. The rest is pretty self explanatory. I also made a card for Friday Sketchers Week 57 which I will post tomorrow. Have a wonderful week, and thank you for stopping by today. I hope to see you again tomorrow.

My Very Own Tilda Doll!

I am so ecstatic! Yesterday I came home to a very pleasant surprise. All the way from the UK, Julia Roberts of Billbery Grove had sent me my very own Tilda doll that she handmade for me! I've been waiting for my little girl to arrive and am very fortunate that Julia succumed to my request to make me this Tilda doll after I saw it on Vivi Casale's blog and knew I wanted one to sit in my craft room to keep me company. Unfortunately, Julia will no longer be making any more dolls at this time due to her stringent schedule of accomplishing other projects she has put aside for a while. Julia (waving and jumping with joy!) thank you so much for giving in to my request. I will always treasure this beautiful handmade Tilda. She is so darling in her pinafore dress and lovely pink patent leather shoes. Julia has done an incredible job constructing her with her hair of yarn actually hand sewn into her head, the beautiful layered dress, her stockings, and a handmade heart for Tilda to hold. Julia was inspired by all the Tilda cards and projects she has seen on people's blogs and created the first one for someone whose name I don't recall, then Vivi commissioned Julia for one, and then me. Julia's work is immaculate...very neat stitching, beautiful fabric, buttons on Tilda's dress and her stuffed heart. I will keep this picture of Tilda on my sidebar as a rememberance of Julia's hard work so I can admire her everyday I'm on my blog. Hugs and kisses and blessed wishes to you, Julia. Thank you for making me a very happy gal!

Just Magnolia Week 8

Happy Saturday Everyone! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend and the weather is improving. I had some time last night so I decided to use the sketch from Just Magnolias and came up with this card. I don't know the name of this DP as I purchased 5 packs from our LSS and I remember it said "Dovecraft" and maybe (just maybe) the designer is Karen Knight? I divvied up the pack and gave away the icon sheet and kept only what I wanted. Anyway, the card base is 5.5" square and I used a light pink by Bazzill. I stamped "Tilda with Ponytail" with Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI white CS, colored her with Copics, then cut her out and used foam tape to mount her on the circle. I punched 4 butterflies with my MS punch, 2 each in CS and 2 in pink vellum, then I distressed the vellum edges and adhered them together with crystal lacquer. I stuck a stamen in this teardrop pearls I have for the body and antennaes. The "dream" is stamped with my VERY OLD Just Rite sentiment sent I got about 6 years ago! One of those self-inking little stampers which is now discontinued I'm sure, then I punched it out with my Marvy (yellow) scallop heart punch. The rectangle panel is Bazzill CS and another DP from the same paper pack. Thank you for popping in today, and I know I've been absent for about a week again, working on some things that I will post next week. Enjoy your weekend, and now I will start visiting all your blogs.

Flower Power Tilda

Happy June 1st to all of you lovely ladies. My "spring cleaning" continues and I found a scrapbook packet from CTMH that is about 4 years old and is aptly entitled, "Flower Power" so since I've been seeing so many wonderful "hippie" type Tildas with her flower band, I thought I could use this pack of papers with Tilda. I hardly ever (can't remember if I did) use stickers on my cards, but since these were available as part of the scrapbook packet, I pasted them all over . . . more like helter skelter and I wasn't pleased with this card but, oh well, here's Tilda with her lovely flower band and I think I would love her in a different "environment" so to speak. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and getting ready for the end of the school year, graduations, weddings, all the activities summer usually brings. Thank you for taking a peek today and for tolerating my "sticker" card LOL! Have fun this summer!
